Join Bulloch Hall and get into the spirit of the season as they host the classic Charles Dickens tale “A Christmas Carol” on December 3, 16, 17 and 23 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person and seating is very limited.
In this holiday favorite, Charles Dickens shows us Ebenezer Scrooge as he falls asleep in his dingy, cold quarters on Christmas Eve. The old miser is visited by three ghosts, each revealing to Scrooge his wrong doings and what will happen if he continues in his evil ways. A traditional holiday classic for the entire family, guaranteed to fill you with the Christmas spirit and warm your heart.
The former artistic director of Kudzu Playhouse, Wally Hinds, knows a lot about “A Christmas Carol.” He has been producing, directing and acting in the show in Roswell since 1991. This year’s production will once again feature Brink Miller as Ebenezer Scrooge, who has been playing the part in Roswell every Christmas for 16 years.

The 26th Annual Magnolia Ball, benefiting the preservation of Bulloch Hall, will take place Saturday, June 11 from 7 p.m. until midnight at the Country Club of Roswell. “A Casablanca Evening” is planned with men in white dinner jackets and women in 40’s inspired evening gowns.
Chair Bob Hagan, Presenting Sponsor Malon D. Mimms, Friends of Bulloch Board, and the Magnolia Ball Committee will present a romantic and elegant evening of cocktails, silent and live auction shopping, dinner and dancing to the incredible sounds of the “Grapevine.”
Proceeds from this affair will go toward recreating the 1840’s service yard and the construction of the buildings which formed it. The original site had two slave cabins (one of which has been reconstructed, the second is well on its way) and a carriage house. This addition will enhance the tours and the visitors experience at Bulloch Hall.
Reservations for the 2011 Magnolia Ball are $150 per person. Please call Pam Billingsley, Bulloch Hall Site Coordinator, at 770-992-1731 ext. 2 for reservations. For sponsorship opportunities, please call Sponsor Co-Chair, Ed Vaught, at 770-518-6681 or Chad Hagan at 404-394-6201.

The Great American Cover-Up Quilt Show is one of Bulloch Hall’s most anticipated annual events, and it is right around the corner. During this week, Bulloch Hall, one of Roswell’s historic plantation homes, is adorned with hand-made quilts, and, since it also happens to be close to Spring, the daffodils and other flowers are sure to be blooming. The quilts add a different dimension to the Hall, filling up its walls with a range from traditional to modern works. The always interesting guild “challenge” quilts will also be part of the raffle and many pieces will be for sale. So, spend a day among the flowers and the quilts at the 29th Great American Cover-up Quilt Show, which begins Saturday, March 12, 2011 and concludes on Sunday, March 20, 2011.
The theme this year is “Quilts, Full Circle,” with quilts from the guild and the local community, on display throughout the house. The Bulloch Hall Quilt Guild, the host of the show, is pleased to present “Vintage Revisited,” a special exhibit from Mary Kerr where 19 artists recycle antique quilt blocks into their own new designs. The time has come once again for the annual Christmas Candlelight Tour of homes. This Roswell event is very similar to most tour of homes in that different houses will be decorated and on display for public viewing. However, there is one big difference to set this event apart from the rest - you tour the homes in candlelight. Needless to say, it is a majestic evening that is sure to get you in the holiday spirit.
Go ahead and mark your calendars for Saturday, December 11, 2010 with the homes opening at 5 p.m. The tour features three of Roswell’s historic antebellum homes – Barrington Hall, Bulloch Hall and Smith Plantation. Each home showcases a specific theme with festive decorations that are accented by the glowing candlelight.
Barrington Hall’s theme is “Dressed for the Season,” featuring exquisite period clothing exhibited against a backdrop of traditional Southern holiday décor. Bulloch Hall will be celebrating “The Symbols of Christmas” with each room highlighting the different symbols of the holiday season. Smith Plantation will feature “The Colors of Christmas” decorations by the Roswell Garden Club using old and new colors of Christmas.
The Roswell Christmas Candlelight Tour of Homes is for residents of all ages. They will have children’s activities, seasonal treats and entertainment for everyone to enjoy. So make plans for the whole family to attend.
Admission is $20 at the door for adults and $10 at the door for children.

2nd Annual Trilogy Trolley Crawl
August 14, 2010 by Aaron Hofmann

| 7:00 pm | to | 11:30 pm |
If you’re looking for something really fun and different to do this summer, join A Southern Trilogy in Roswell for the second annual “Trilogy Trolley Crawl” happening Saturday, August 21 from 7-11:30 p.m. A limited number of tickets at $40 each are available. The ticket includes admission to all three historic homes, one drink ticket and three mini-sampler plate food tickets. The event will take place on the grounds of Barrington Hall, Bulloch Hall and Smith Plantation.
This award-winning event will once again transport guests to three great American locals where you will enjoy regional cuisine and signature drinks catered by Talk of the Town of Roswell.
- What happens at Barrington stays at Barrington as the grounds of Barrington Hall are filled with the excitement, sites and sounds of the Las Vegas strip. You’ll be able to “gamble” at the casino while listening to the Vegas sounds of Brookwood Split. Enjoy a taste of Vegas with a “Caesar Salad” with Chicken Strips and a slice of Wedding Chapel Cake. Wash that down with our Signature Drink, the “Rat Pac” (classic vodka & tonic).
- Bulloch Hall will take us to Nashville and the Grand Ole Opry and will feature all of the fun that country and western music has to offer. You can two-step to the terrific country sounds of the award winning Jamie Pelfrey Band. Enjoy a BBQ Pork Slider with Tennessee Slaw and a Mini Moon Pie. And what else would the Signature Drink be but some good old Lynchburg Lemonade (Jack Daniels and lemonade)?
- Smith Plantation will transform into the streets of New York City with iconic music and foods found throughout the Big Apple. Rock the night away at our “Studio 54” with famous local DJ Steve the Extreme. A mini Pastrami on Rye with Chips and a NYC Black & White Cookie will delight your palate. And, our “Cosmo” Signature Drink will add another special touch to the evening.
Six trolleys will continuously loop to transport guests from site to site. Parking is available at each site with additional parking at the First Baptist Church parking lot on Mimosa Boulevard. Guests may begin the fun at any of the three locations.
The event was hugely successful last year, introducing a new audience to these significant properties. This year’s event has again been designed for those folks who might not otherwise elect to visit historic house museums. “We specifically wanted to reach out to individuals who might not be drawn to history and last year we learned that approximately 80% of the 1000 attendees had never been to our properties before. And, they all agreed that the houses are pretty spectacular and would return for the full tour. That’s exactly what we hoped would happen” says Morgan Timmis, Roswell’s Historic and Cultural Affairs Manager. “We sold out of tickets last year and had to turn people away. This year we are expecting to sell out again so people need to get their tickets early!”

If you’re looking for something really new and different to do this summer, join A Southern Trilogy in Roswell for the first annual “Trilogy Trolley Crawl” happening Saturday, August 22 from 7 p.m.-11:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door and include three drink tickets and three sampler plate tickets. The event will take place on the grounds of three of Roswell’s historic homes – Barrington Hall, Bulloch Hall and Smith Plantation.
History takes a step forward at this party where you will enjoy regional cuisine and signature drinks as each site transforms into one of three great American locals:
Barrington Hall will cater to the Parrot Head in all at the Barrington Hall Key West Beach Bash featuring A1A – The “Official” Jimmy Buffet Tribute Band.
Swing meets jazz at Bulloch Hall where the atmosphere of New Orleans comes to life featuring the sweet tunes of Gwen Hughes & The Retro Jazz Kats plus swing dancers.
Smith Plantation transforms into the streets of old San Antonio for an authentic southwestern fiesta featuring Mariachi Sensacion and salsa dancers.
Other fun activities are scheduled such as the “Flamingo Toss” at Barrington and the “Mask Making Contest” at Bulloch. Trolleys will transport guests from each of the homes. Parking is available at each site.
The event was created to attract people in the community who may not typically visit historic museum sites. “We specifically wanted to reach out to individuals who might not be automatically drawn to these historic homes,” says Morgan Timmis, Roswell’s Historic and Cultural Affairs Manager. “We hope to attract at least 500 if not 1000 to the party.”
Sponsors of the “Trilogy Trolley Crawl” include the City of Roswell, A Southern Trilogy, 106.7 Atlanta’s True Oldies, The Visualab, Stream Light Productions, Nirvana Café & Grille, Scroggin & Company and Mimms Enterprises.
Advanced admission tickets available at each house, The Chandlery and the Roswell Visitors Center. For more details about the event, visit www.southerntrilogy.com or call 678.639.7500.
