2014 Roswell Chili Cook-off

The 2014 Roswell Chili Cook-off will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2014, 1–3 pm at Leita Thompson Memorial Park, 1355 Woodstock Rd, Roswell, GA 30075.

To have a proper chili cook-off, you need some rules and here they are:


  • Participants should supply at least 2 gal of chili
  • Creativity with your recipes is encouraged. All bases (beans, meat, veggie, etc.) are valid.
  • Participants must submit an ingredients list. No lists or recipes will be given out unless you would like to share. This cook-off involves sampling by event attendees, please be aware that liability is based on ingredients cooked in your chili. Anyone preparing and serving harmful ingredients will be held liable.
  • Any non-traditional or unusual ingredients must be disclosed to prevent allergic reactions (seafood, peanuts, chocolate, etc.)
  • Chili should be prepared prior to event and sufficiently heated before 1 pm on November 8.
  • Chili must be prepared and served in a sanitary manner.

General Info:

  • Participants must furnish their own cookware and serving utensils.
  • A heat source can include a number of different methods including traditional propane camp stove, Coleman fuel, or BBQ (no electricity or running water will be available at the booths.)
  • Sides and Supplements: (Cornbread, bread, salsa, cheese, etc.) are optional but encouraged to support your chili.

Set-up Rules and Times:

  • All Participants will be allowed to set up no earlier than 11:30 a.m.
  • Advertisement and booth decoration are encouraged (offering a prize for the most spirit)
  • At the close of the event, all equipment, advertisements, and decorations must be removed from the site, but should remain until 3 p.m. and no longer than 5:30 p.m.
  • Chairs and 6’ folding tables will be supplied.
  • Shelter will not be supplied, but will be permitted up to 10×10’
  • One ounce sample cups, spoons, and paper napkins will be supplied.

Prizes for both categories (professional and amateur) include ceramic awards plus:

  • First Place = $150; Second Place = $100
  • Best All-Round Spirit and Booth Design (one prize for all entries) = $100

All Chefs will be allowed to choose a small bowl from the event as a thank you for participating.
