While Spring may be a few months away, the registration period for many Spring activities is just around the corner. The best way to prepare is by perusing the Roswell 2011 Spring Program brochure, which was recently posted online. The city of Roswell offers a wide variety of events, sports, outings and more, all listed in this brochure.
You may even discover some new things about this fantastic city. Like, did you know that Roswell has two Spraygrounds as well as a public pool? Of course, neither of these open before May, but season passes are on sale now with early bird special pricing if you are interested. In addition, Roswell has different trips planned that all residents can join – see the Atlanta Ballet perform Sleeping Beauty at the Cobb Performing Arts Center, go to a Hawks or Thrashers game or enjoy a Mother/Daughter afternoon tea, to name a few examples. Of course these are things that you can do on your own, but going with the group from Roswell is a great way to meet more people within the community.
The brochure also has registration dates, times, locations and everything you need to know about signing your kids up for baseball, soccer, football, gymnastics and other athletics. So, when you get a spare moment, take a look through the updated 2011 Spring program brochure.

The holiday season may be behind us, but there is a way to make your Christmas tree live on. Instead of throwing it away and adding even more waste to our landfills, you can turn the beautiful pine into mulch that can be used by other Roswell residents or by the city in a beautification project. So, Keep Roswell Beautiful encourages you to participate in the 21st annual “Bring One for the Chipper” event by recycling your Christmas tree. The event will be held Saturday, January 8, 2011 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Please do not drop off any trees prior to the scheduled date.
Roswell residents can bring their trees to one of the two Home Depot locations in Roswell: Holcomb Bridge Road in Holcomb Woods Shopping Center and Woodstock Road across from Publix. Trees will be chipped into mulch and will be available for delivery to the public by Davey Tree.

Drew French Opens Atlanta’s First Your Pie in Roswell
December 27, 2010 by lauraeverett

One of Roswell’s newest restaurants is a personal-size pizza franchise called Your Pie. Originated by Drew French, who happens to be a North Fulton County local, Your Pie opened in Athens in 2008. The popularity of being able to purchase personal sized pizzas grew at an amazing rate, forcing Drew to expand into the Atlanta market. We love that he decided to pick Roswell for his first location.
Bob Townsend from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution has written a fantastic review of the new restaurant, depicting the menu and overall appeal of the place. If you get a spare moment, you should read it in its entirety, but for those that want a brief overview, here’s Bob’s take on the place:
- The restaurant’s motto “Express your inner pizza” is evident in every aspect of the place: from the extensive list of toppings to the variety of pie crusts and the eight different types of sauce. It could take a lifetime to try every possible combination available.
- In addition to pizza, Your Pie offers sandwiches, calzones, salads and gelato.
- The price is perfect, considering you can get a full meal for under $10; plus they have weekly specials.
So, if you find yourself without dinner one night this week, head over to Your Pie and try Roswell’s newest pizza parlor. Be sure to bring the whole family along because the kids will undoubtedly be thrilled to find that they can finally get their own pizza and get only the toppings they want on it.

Living in Roswell, we are extremely lucky to be home to the Georgia Ensemble Theatre group. With this amazingly talented group of actors headquartered in our hometown, it’s never necessary to travel downtown and battle traffic in order to get some live theater entertainment. The next play in the 2010-2011 season is a world premiere romantic comedy from award-winning Atlanta playwright Topher Payne called Tokens of Affection.
Centered around empty-nesters, the story is basically The Parent Trap for adults. Once their children have grown up and moved out, a husband learns that his wife of 37 years is leaving him. As both of them seek comfort and advice at the homes of their children, the audience is treated to hilarious results. In between the laughs, you’ll fall in love with the characters and find that you can relate to their predicaments. It’s a fantastic story that will leave you smiling. Read more

Aqua Blue is one of Atlanta’s best restaurants, and one of the only fine dining restaurants in Roswell to consistently be named one of Jezebel Magazine’s top 100 Restaurants in Atlanta. The exceptional seafood cuisine has received many rave reviews and awards and become a favorite for many Atlantans. With such a tremendous reputation in the Atlanta area, it’s only natural that the restaurant will be hosting one big soiree to bring in 2011. For those that weren’t looking to head downtown and face big crowds for New Year’s Eve, a delectable dinner at Aqua Blue may be right up your alley.
Aqua Blue will host three different seatings on December 31, 2010 - 5:30, 7:30 and 9:30. Of course to be a part of the champagne toast and party favors at midnight, you’ll want to reserve a spot during the 9:30 seating. This is a great choice because a DJ will be spinning great music starting at 9:00. However, no matter what seating you are a part of, you will enjoy a special holiday three course menu that includes: Read more

Roswell is Georgia’s Only Bicycle-Friendly City
December 7, 2010 by lauraeverett
With the growing popularity of spin classes and bike races like the Tour de France, cycling has become one of the most popular forms of exercise. Cyclists can be found putting in miles on most roads as well as taking advantage of the myriad of bike paths available in metro Atlanta. Taking into consideration the higher demand for cyclist-friendly environments, the City of Roswell has taken the extra step to ensure the safety of its bikers by offering wide bike lanes and shoulders on most of the city streets. Because of these little extras, The League of American Bicyclists has deemed Roswell a bicycle-friendly city.
The organization established a ranking system that goes all the way to platinum status. Roswell has consistently earned the bronze status since 2006, and is the only city in Georgia to be given a designation.
Keep up the great work Roswell, as you are making this fantastic city safe for all residents.

Bulloch Hall will be celebrating “The Symbols of Christmas” with each room highlighting the different symbols of the holiday season. Smith Plantation will feature “The Colors of Christmas” decorations by the Roswell Garden Club using old and new colors of Christmas.
