One of Roswell’s most anticipated events, the annual lighting of the Historic Town Square, is taking place this Saturday, December 4, 2010. Not only will you get to enjoy the beautiful illumination of the Christmas tree and other decorated structures, but this is also the perfect opportunity to visit Santa and ensure you are not on his naughty list.
In fact, the evening is packed full of different ways to celebrate the holiday season. The festivities begin at 5:00 p.m. with performances by the Hillside Elementary singers, the River Eves Choir and Esther Jackson Chorus. After singing along with these exceptional performers, you can then enjoy a special reading of ’Twas the Night Before Christmas from Mayor Jere Wood.
Once you have seen Santa and the Square is glowing in the night, Santa’s Secret Gift Shop will open. Read more

Thanksgiving time. It’s certainly a time of year when we get to spend time with friends and family and give thanks.
But for some savvy Roswell shoppers, this is also the time of year to prepare to assault the stores on what has become known as Black Friday. Now while you may be looking to take advantage of the latest deals, keep in mind that not all deals are found in the stores.
Another option is in the Roswell real estate market. Home prices have been reduced and interest rates are phenomenal. These kind of deals are going to be hard to beat in the stores or even online. To make your Black Friday shopping spree, easier, we’ve compiled up-to-date lists of Roswell short sales as well as foreclosures in Roswell.
If you’re interested in taking advantage of the Roswell Black Friday deals in the real estate market, be sure to contact us for your free buyer consultation.

Daylight Savings Time Ends

Attention Roswell,
For most Americans, daylight saving time ends in 2010 at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 7, when most states fall back to standard time. Time will spring forward again on March 13, 2011, when daylight saving time resumes.
The federal government doesn’t require U.S. states or territories to observe daylight saving time, which is why residents of Arizona, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam, and the Northern Marianas Islands won’t need to turn back their clocks this weekend.
While most of us plan to embrace that blessed hour (by sleeping right through it), the time change can throw a few people for a loop.
To avoid having your body clock disrupted, even if you can’t sleep an extra hour, stay in bed with your eyes closed. If you want to get up, don’t go outdoors. Draw the blinds and don’t have lots of sunlight come into house. This could help your body adjust to the time change.

Election Day 2010 for Roswell

Election Day is today, November 2, 2010. Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and any voter in line at 7 p.m. will be allowed to vote. Voters must have an acceptable form of photo ID with them to vote. Based on experiences from 2008, voters who go to the polls after 10 a.m. will most likely encounter a short wait.
The Fulton County Department of Registration & Elections staff reminds voters to check their proper locations before heading to the polls on today. The easiest way to check is to visit the My Voter Page on the Secretary of State’s website.
Employers are also reminded that Georgia law requires employees be allowed two hours off to vote on Election Day. The polls are open for 12 hours, so most people have an opportunity to go before or after work, but employees working a 12-hour shift must be allowed to break to vote.
Any voter who has a question about the ballot that displays on the touchscreen voting equipment must get the attention of a poll worker before touching the “cast ballot” button. Once you hit the “cast ballot” button, your vote is final. For more information, call 404-730-7072 or log onto www.fultoncountyga.gov/county/elections

On May 15, 2010, the City of Roswell will be holding another Shredfest event. The hours will be 8AM until 12 noon or until the truck is full, whichever comes first.
This is a perfect opportunity to safely dispose of sensitive documents like old tax returns, junk mail with personal information, dated documents with personal information, dated pay stubs with personal information, etc.
Shredded while you watch!
Limit: 5 boxes or 200 pounds of documents per vehicle. Roswell and non-Roswell residents are welcome to participate.
Shredfest takes place at the Roswell Recycling Center, 11570 Maxwell Road, Alpharetta, GA 30009 .
This is a great way to shred those confidential documents, unlike what the temp agency had done with all those confidential documents that they dropped off at the Smyrna Recycling Center back in February. Perhaps they didn’t know about this event.
Future Shredfest dates include August 14, 2010 and November 13, 2010.
For more information, contact Trevor Williams at 770-442-8822 or twilliams01@roswellgov.com.
